I buy the advantages of Cloud Storage and would love to use it. However, the cost is still too high when compared with just leasing another server with storage. At present, ThePlanet's offering is 40c/GByte plus traffic, which incidentally is very good compared to the competition. For 1TByte, that means approximately $400/month. However, I got a special with ThePlanet on a server with RAID5 1TByte storage that costs me about a quarter of this. Yes, it means I have to handle the backup stuff myself, and the backup server could also die, but everything going at once is unlikely. At a quarter of the price though, I'll live with it. If cloud storage were priced at 10c/GByte, it would make perfect sense. Would be really cool if ThePlanet could bring the costs down.

That's one of the best reasons for backups. It's at the top of my list, too.
